Review: Black Milk Cereal Dive / Manchester

Get ready for a sugar explosion.

We’re nearly two years late to the Black Milk party, but it’s better late than never, right?! Black Milk first opened in May 2015 and, though you don’t need a reservation anymore, we guarantee these will be all over your instagram feed after tasting a bit of this magic.

Hidden in Afflecks Palace, an alternative clothing building in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, Black Milk is tucked away on the second floor. Although the toilets are scarce and the scenery isn’t too picturesque, it’s clear to see that the impression is all set on the menu.

Get high on high-rise milkshakes – topped with a slice of cheesecake, brownie or sticky toffee pudding, opt for your favourite cereal poured into an edible chocolate bowl or feast your eyes on a milkshake cocktail (just without the hangover) served in country mason jars. Ultimately, screw it all and build and customise whatever your heart desires from scratch.

It has to be noted, service can be a little slow sometimes and if you’re in need of eating your cereal or drinking your milkshake in a dim-lit, luxury shack, then this may not be for you, but if you have a bit of a sugary tooth or need a little pick-me-up, Black Milk is where it’s at.

With over 50 varieties of cereals (yes, they stock Golden Grahams!) and serve up home-made cakes and brownies, we can overlook the sometimes lousy service and the chocolate-splattered menus.

After originally taking inspo from Momofuku Milk Bar in NYC, Black Milk caters for all types of dietary needs – from semi-skimmed milk to soya alternatives and lacto-free options. Plus, if you live near and don’t want to step out of your front door, Deliveroo has the answer.

Grab your co-workers on a Friyay afternoon or treat your hometown friends on a weekend and take them here for  a sweet treat guaranteed to max out your blood sugar levels. Cake in a shake… hell yeah!

Find Black Milk on 52 Church Street, Manchester (M4 1PW). Approximately, a 6 minute walk from the Arndale Shopping Centre (4 minutes if you’re in a sugar rush) and a 12 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station.

Prices: £3 – £7
